  • Abstract
The origin and history of the Laplace transform are described. The role of the transform in modern electrical engineering and the developments that made it useful are discussed. It is noted that the development of computer programs that simulate even highly nonlinear circuits has threatened the practical importance of the Laplace transform.<>
