Abstract :
A local network for the automatic extraction of drainage networks from elevation data is described. The methodology demonstrates how a large number of locally connected processing units can solve the global problem of drainage network extraction. The methodology has advantages over previous methods and is able to extract lakes as well as streams and rivers
