Information systems/information technology (IS/IT) professionals, need to seek greater interaction with business managers, in particular with the board members of large corporations, if IS/IT is to assume the pivotal role expected of it in the 1990s. The author discusses the ignorance of business managers of IT issues. He examines the attitudes of IT/IS practitioners. He looks at the evolution of the role of IT and at the potentials of IT in business
