Abstract :
In this paper we experimentally demonstrate all-optical logic AND gate operation using four-wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifier for 10Gbpsoptical On-Off keying bit stream. We find that the bit quality of the AND output depends on the input signal and pump power levels, four wave mixing conversion efficiency and the saturation characteristics of non-linear semiconductor optical amplifier. We give a theoretical explanation for the distortion in the AND output waveform. We report the experimental results on the optimization of operating parameters in terms of the performance metrics like extinction ratio, contrast ratio and amplitude modulation of the AND output.
