Abstract
Performance degradation results for typical phase shift keyed (PSK) and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) systems distributed by several types of interfering signals are presented. The set of interfering signals includes digital carriers with the same modulation as the desired ones and also unmodulated carriers. The error probability was calculated using moments and the Gauss quadrature rule. Curves relating carrier-to-interference and carrier-to-noise ratios were then plotted for co-channel and adjacent channel interferences. Although most of the calculation techniques used are not new, the present numerical results are useful for establishing interference criteria for digital transmission systems.<>
