Abstract
The various energy efficiency initiatives promoted by the National Directorate of Energy of Honduras are presented. Initially, a summary of the current situation in terms of energy consumption is showed. Then, the various initiatives promoted by the leading body of the Honduran energy sector, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (SERNA), as well as other institutions involved in the sector, are shown. It is showed by applying these measures, promoting rational use of energy and implementing measures to raise awareness in the population, it is feasible to reduce energy consumption. Finally, the various barriers identified in the implementation of energy efficiency measures are shown.
