Abstract :
General Eugene Griffin, first vice-president of the General Electric Company, died suddenly of apoplexy, April 11, at Schenectady. General Griffin was born in Ellsworth Maine, October 13, 1855. He was graduated from the United States Military Academy in the class of 1875, and was immediately appointed a second lieutenant in the Engineer corps of the army, serving fourteen years, and rising to the rank of captain. While a member of the engineering staff of the District of Columbia, he prepared a report on electric railways for the government. He subsequently entered the service of the Thompson-Houston Electric Company, devoting his attention to the development of the electric railway.
