The British Post Office standard submerged-repeater system for shallow-water cables, with special mention of the England-Netherlands system

The paper describes the design of submerged repeaters for use in tandem on shallow-water cables, together with the special terminal equipment required. This has become a standard system in the British Post Office, and provides 60 speech circuits on a single-cable both-way basis. It was first applied to the England-Netherlands route, where each of two cables has been equipped with four repeaters.
