Abstract :
Lightning damage to a reinforced-concrete pipeline is described. After repair the pipeline was protected from further damage by laying a conductor along its length. Currents of the order of 5 000 amperes were observed in this conductor, thus proving that it had fulfilled its purpose. Local conditions are discussed and a rough theory is given.
