Abstract :
This paper presents the audiovisual content access on the Internet. The use of multimedia on the Internet is large and growing at an extraordinary rate. By 2015, one-million minutes of video content will cross the Internet every second. Audiovisual archives are investing in large scale digitization efforts of their analog holdings and, in parallel, ingesting an ever-increasing amount of born-digital files in their digital deposits. Digitization opens up new access paradigms and boosts reuse of audiovisual content. Query-log analyses show the shortcomings of manual annotations.
