Abstract :
Conventional production testing of video cassette recorders (VCRs) uses microprocessor-based test systems as sequence controllers. Program development and debugging using low-level languages is a tedious and time-consuming process. To be effective, test systems must be able to be reconfigured rapidly to meet the requirements for new products and designs in a rapidly changing marketplace. The authors describe a computer-aided VCR test station (CAVCRTS) which overcomes the problems mentioned above. The station is used for testing the power supply and servo boards before final assembly
