Abstract
The aim of this paper is to identify the barriers to the knowledge transfer and university research commercialization system in Poland on the basis of qualitative research of the 20 biggest Polish universities. The research revealed that there are three main groups of barriers referring to macro environment, university system and human factors. The results could help Polish government and universities to support effective processes of scientific research commercialization, build knowledge and competence in the Polish scientific and research centers. The article is the comparison analysis which can be taken into consideration by university managers in transforming economies.
