  • Abstract
    A simple polarized-light microscope has been developed for checking the orientation of the optic axis of sapphire jewels as used in watt-hour-meter bearings. The method is quick, accurate and simple in use. An accuracy of ±2° is obtained for angles between 80° and 90°.
