Abstract :
The authors present a self-aligning 1×12 and a 1×24 optical switch based on the translation past each other of two halves of a silica optical circuit of straight waveguides mounted on a common base. The switch features an insertion loss of 0.2 dB, repeatability of 0.05 dB and polarisation and wavelength independence
