Abstract
The ability to detect a primary user (PU) of a licensed spectral frequency band is the basic requirement for a cognitive power line communication (PLC) system. We present in this paper an easy-to-implement and effective method for identifying amplitude modulated (AM) signals on power lines, especially in a cyclostationary noise scenario, which is typically encountered on low-voltage power grids.
