Abstract :
The existence of the stable TM1 wave in the selfinduced anisotropic planar waveguide is demonstrated for the first time. The modal field profile of this trapped wave pattern is shown to depend on the modal propagation constant, in contrast to the TE1 (optical spatial soliton) case where the field profile is characterised by a hyperbolic function independent of the modal propagation constant.
