    Quite deservedly, magnetic amplifiers have been given very wide publicity.1¿10 While much attention has been focused on the saturable reactor as a vital part, if not the only part, of a magnetic amplifier, the usefulness of the saturable reactor for other functions than amplification is not as widely appreciated.
