Abstract :
50 wavelength division multiplexed signals were transmitted at 10.66 Gbit/s over a 1655 km EDFA chain. A gain-flattened EDFA, pumped at 1480 nm, and a dense channel separation of 0.3 nm were adopted. This is the first demonstration of 0.5 Tbit/s transmission over 1000 km
