Abstract :
This paper investigates multiple single-phase converters for multiple single-phase motor drives from a dc-link voltage. The dc-link voltage is obtained from primary energy sources such as photovoltaic, battery, utility grid, or by a combination of these. This paper points out the best configuration for different scenarios. The proposed systems allow functions such as soft start, independent adjustment of motor speeds, or group of motors operating at different rated frequencies. Furthermore, a control technique has been proposed to maximize the utilization of the dc-link voltage and minimize shared leg currents. Several relevant characteristics of the converters are addressed, such as voltage capability, shared-leg currents, and power ratings. Experimental and simulated results are presented.
