Abstract :
Experimental results of a novel ultra-broadband amplifier operating over the frequency range of 2-18 GHz are presented. The amplifier comprises a cascaded reactively terminated single-stage distributed amplifier (CRTSSDA) configuration. The amplifier employs double heterojunction pseudomorphic high electron mobility transistors (DPHEMTs). The fabricated CRTSSDA is shown to exhibit higher gain, reduced power consumption, and a superior efficiency performance compared to the equivalent gain conventional travelling amplifier design approach
