Abstract :
For the iterative decoding of turbo codes it is necessary to know the channel state parameters in order to estimate the a posteriori probability of the information bits. The authors propose a new iterative channel estimator using the soft output of a turbo code, and analyse the performance of the turbo code over a correlated flat Rayleigh fading channel. The channel estimation error of the proposed channel estimator is reduced according to the number of iterations. Simulation results show that the use of the proposed iterative channel estimator improves turbo code performance
