Abstract
The phase-stability and intensity noise property in all-optical subharmonic clock recovery has been improved by utilising optical-pulse-injection synchronisation of modelocked diode lasers through a cascading two-stage configuration. The first stage involves optical clock extraction at the same frequency as that of the injected optical data, while the second stage is the periodic optical pulse injection into a modelocked diode laser generating a subharmonic frequency. This clock recovery scheme has been successfully applied to 40 to 10 Gbit/s all-optical demultiplexing
