Abstract :
A simple novel method is described for generating a wavelength-tunable 40 GHz pulse-train from a fibre ring laser with a semiconductor laser amplifier using 10 GHz electronics and optical repetition-rate multiplication. The 40 GHz pulses can be tuned over a 20 nm range with a pulsewidth of ~8 ps
