Abstract
This is a review of radar from its initial beginnings to its possible directions in the future. The key events which led to new capabilities in radar, its major applications, and the current trends in its technology are mentioned. The particular applications of ground-probing radar, doppler radar for detection of dangerous weather, and HF over-the-horizon radar are cited as specific examples of current interest.
