Abstract :
A pulse-amplitude analyser is an instrument designed to measure the amplitude distribution of pulses produced in an ionization chamber or other source. The general requirements of such an instrument are discussed and the way in which the present instrument has been designed to meet the requirements is described. The several units comprising the complete analyser are then described in detail. Among these units are a combined discriminator and cancelling circuit and an automatic d.c. level control, both of which are new and which are shown to contribute effectively in attaining the high degree of stability and the simplicity of adjustment of the complete instrument.
