Abstract :
In this study, a new control approach for real-time speed synchronisation of multiple induction motors during speed acceleration and load changes is developed. The control strategy is to stabilise speed tracking of each motor while synchronising its motion with other motors´ motions so that differential speed errors among multiple motors converge to zero. An adjacent cross-coupling control architecture incorporating sliding mode control method is proposed, and the asymptotic convergence to zero of both speed tracking errors and speed synchronisation errors have been realised via Lyapunov stability analysis. Performance comparisons with PI control and decoupling control are investigated on a four-motor system. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
