Abstract
An exact integral representation for the field radiated by a line source located at the edge of an impedance wedge has been obtained. To this end, the plane wave spectrum of the source is used in connection with the plane wave response of the wedge. Uniform high-frequency expressions for the total field are derived from that solution. They include the description of surface wave excitation mechanisms, and provide field patterns that are smooth and continuous across the surface wave shadow boundaries. Numerical examples are presented to investigate these evanescent wave contributions
