Abstract :
Mobile radio systems are defined, the frequency bands available are given and present practice in this field is outlined. Methods of operation of complete systems, including the use of selective calling, are described. The merits of amplitude and frequency modulation for systems of this type are compared, and the problems of better utilization of the available frequency bands by closer channel spacing are discussed. Finally, some of the valve problems are briefly mentioned.
