Abstract :
The fluctuation current flowing in a diode is given, in the temperature-limited case, by the well-known formula I¿f2=2eI¿f. The relation between this and the thermodynamical formula V¿2=4kTR¿f is considered and an explanation is given of why the thermodynamical approach is of no assistance in the practical space-charge-limited case.
