Abstract :
The author outlines the groundwork and the important development steps carried out in Texas Instruments since late 1950s to the year 2000 on the development of radar solid modules. This includes the use of semi-insulating GaAs as a microwave substrate material, the development of the 94 GHz receiver and the first GaAs monolithic microwave circuit to be operated. The years of the MERA program are considered to have been very successful
