Abstract :
In previous work, carbon coated Al2O3/TiC sliders showed much better wear properties on lubricated carbon disks than the uncoated sliders. In this paper, drag tests were conducted in a vacuum chamber to monitor the tribochemistry at the head-disk interface to understand the fundamental mechanisms related to the wear at the head disk interface
