Abstract :
Step response of tapered lines under matched conditions is studied in detail by a novel method of series expansion. We use the concept of fall time to characterize the transient characteristics and, by using approximate formulas concerned with Gaussian pulse, response characteristics are derived which may be a guide in practical applications of tapered line. The effectiveness of the formulas is verified by numerical calculations
