  • Abstract
The author begins by discussing the predictions of the 1962 paper by H.Q. North. He considers the actual achievements in comparison with those predictions. CMOS technology and CAD are discussed in particular. The author goes on to discuss the evolution of solid state circuitry upto the year 2025. The topics covered include: large scale partnerships, wafer yields, processing alliances, single and multi-chip solutions, customer influence on design, design efficiency, and application examples
