Abstract :
A discrete-time nonlinear model for a PR4-equalized magnetic recording channel is derived, extending the results of others. The model makes clear the difficulty in compensating for nonlinear distortion by conventional techniques, while simultaneously lending itself to reasonably simple Viterbi detection
