  • Abstract
    The state of research into the toroidal-pinch approach to fusion is reviewed, and a qualitative summary is given of the theory of the stability and heating of such discharges. The experimental results obtained to date are discussed in the light of similarity laws, and some of the remaining problems and questions are listed.
