  • Abstract
Leti has constructed an absolute proton Overhauser magnetometer to be launched with the Danish Oersted satellite in 1997. This equipment provides high resolution and small volume characteristics for the calibration of on board vectorial magnetometers: the overall absolute resolution remains below 0.25 nT (1 σ), for magnetic fields between 16 μT and 54 μT. Two models (flight and spare) have been characterized in terms of functional, environmental and EMC performances. The result is a new standard for low orbit scientific earth magnetic mapping missions
