The application of low-pressure resins to some high-voltage switchgear designs

The paper outlines the properties of the epoxy and polyester resins which were chosen for application to high-voltage switchgear. Manufacturing methods for casting and impregnating with these resins and for reinforcing them are outlined, and the problems which have arisen and the steps taken to overcome them are described. Examples are given of the ways in which the resins may be applied to various highvoltage switchgear designs, and an indication is given of the advantages so obtained.
