Abstract
The paper reviews the factors upon which discrimination between h.r.c. fuses depends and relates these to current practice. Consideration is given to the fundamental functions in fuse operation and the principles of system planning to facilitate discriminative protection. Suggestions are also made concerning the presentation of data to assist in the choice of fuses. Finally, brief examples are given of practical cases to illustrate the conception of degree in discriminative protection.
