Abstract :
In the June issue of this newsletter, Prof. Elliott [I] surprisingly argued that the Woodward- Lawson (WL) attern synthesis method should no longer be taught, anf should disappear from our textbooks - in favor of the Orchard- Elliott-Stern synthesis method [2]. In a subsequent issue, I pleaded for the peaceful co-existence of both methods [3]. In his reply, Prof. Elliott [4] expands on the latter method, challenges the merits of the WL method, and maintains that ´... it is a pedagogical mistake to teach Woodward- Lawson...´. However, he also welcomes a dialogue and in this spirit these lines are written.
