Abstract
Although Preisach models as originally proposed were phenomenological in nature, they can reveal physical insight into the magnetizing process if interpreted correctly. The classical model has been modified in order to achieve statistical stability, thus improving its predictive ability. The phenomena that these modifications explain include noncongruency of minor loops, accommodation, and rotational properties
