The tuning of coupled-cavity reflex klystrons

The problem of the tuning of a reflex klystron by means of a variable secondary circuit coupled to the primary cavity is considered. The treatment includes losses in the secondary circuit and thus embraces the use of both mechanical and ferrite means of tuning. From the analysis the tuning range of a klystron can be determined in terms of the klystron parameters and the Q-factors of the cavities.
