Abstract :
A classification system for flexible composite constructions is presented. The properties to be considered in matching materials and applications are identified. The more common types of electrical equipment in which flexible laminates are used, together with the specific uses that they serve are also identified. It is noted that at present there are no standard laboratory methods for evaluating the thermal endurance of flexible laminate insulation. Some thermal classes and limiting temperatures that were obtained using IEC Publication 85, thermal evaluation and classification for electric insulation, as a guide are provided.<>
