  • Abstract
    The authors present pruned tree-structured vector quantisation with dead zones (PTSVQWDZ) which is suitable for transforming image or speech coding. PTSVQWDZ considerably improves the rate-distortion performance with a significantly reduced codebook storage when compared with the conventional PTSVQ
