Abstract :
A novel dual intra-cavity contacted VCSEL capable of switching between two orthogonal polarisation states is presented. Polarisation switching is controlled by changing the current injection direction. A record-low threshold current of 0.19 mA and an extinction ratio >21 dB from fit are achieved.
