Abstract :
This paper presents a design sensitivity algorithm for the temperature distribution control in transient induction heating problems that require the electro-thermal analysis. It is assumed that the induction heating system is in the steady state electromagnetically and in the transient state thermally, and it is driven by a sinusoidal current source. The eddy current and the temperature distribution are obtained using the 2D finite element method. In this paper, the design goal is to have the desired temperature distribution on a surface of heated metal. The steepest descent method is used as an optimization algorithm
