My View [Standards]

This is my first column as chair of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Standards Department, but I hope that I have interacted with many of you over the last few years while I was serving as an IAS officer. I believe that, through this service, I was exposed to the significant activities of all of our technical committees. My technical background is in electric power and energy systems, and I was involved for many years in the development of Color Books. In fact, it was through these activities that I became very active in standards within the IEEE. Before serving as an IAS officer, I served a three-year term on the IEEE Standards Association Standards Board and two years on the Board´s New Standards Committee (NESCOM).
