Abstract :
The paper collects together the results of work in this country and in the United States on p.t.f.e.-dielectric cables. Attention is given primarily to radio-frequency cables, including those designed to have particularly low attenuation, and special reference is made to the work which has been directed to the determination of long- and short-term power ratings and temperature ratings. Some design details of these cables cannot yet be regarded as standardized, particularly the construction of the outer protective sheath, and accurate experimental values for the thermal constants of the cable dielectric and sheaths are not, in general, available, but sufficient information has now been published to enable cable performance to be estimated with reasonable confidence.
