Abstract :
The dependence of magneto-elastic properties on variations in ambient temperature, magnetic bias and composition is described for an alloy used in precision springs, acoustic delay lines and electromechanical filters. The factors affecting the choice of an alloy for these applications are then discussed in order to illustrate the merits of a particular alloy composition. This alloy possesses a reduced thermo-elastic coefficient and damping capacity compared with materials previously available, combined with good stability under effects of variations in ambient temperature and external magnetic field. The thermo-elastic coefficient is also relatively insensitive to minor variations in composition.
