Abstract
Using a channel matrix coupling transmitting and receiving antennas as a tool for imaging has been largely unexplored. The authors use a direct transform of the channel matrix to generate an image showing the coupling between angles instead of between antenna elements. This results in an image showing the angular direction of a target. A range of antenna array sizes are looked at and limitations on close-range targets are addressed with a modified version that allows closer range focussing. Finally, a conversion to Cartesian coordinates by grouping sub-sections of a 9-element antenna array is obtained, which narrows down the targets position further.
