Abstract :
The mandate to transform utility operations into completely integrated, fully automated and less costly system is more acute than ever. The KCP&L Smart Grid Demonstration Project was conceived to test the latest smart grid technologies and their viability, while improving the service reliability and power delivery within the Kansas City´s urban core. This paper describes applications of the IEC 61970 and IEC 61968 standards in integration of Distribution Management System (DMS), SCADA, Geographical Information System (GIS) and Demand Response (DERM) applications at KCP&L Smart Grid Demonstration Project.
